Below are a few sobriety motivation tips, self-care strategies, and real life tools to stay strong, focused and resilient. Learn how to stay on track with your recovery and build a life you love.
- Reconnect with your “WHY”-Write down why you chose sobriety in the first place-health, freedom, relationships etc
- Build Routine and Structure-Whether you have been alcohol free for 1 day or 1 year, sobriety creates space so it matters what you fill it with.
- Get honest support-Join a support group (https://womenforsobriety.org/, https://sherecovers.org/)
- Write down a plan-Creating a plan is a critical step because when you are triggered it is difficult, if not impossible, to make clear, level headed, decisions. In these moments, when your emotions get loud, your written plan will guide you through it.
- Expect Ups and Downs-Keep a toolbox of grounding exercises, motivational quotes, music
- Keep a Daily Gratitude Journal-List a few things you are grateful for each day. Be specific.
- Work on Underlying Issues-Explore the issues that led you to self medicate (depression, anxiety, trauma)
- Stay Inspired-Read sober memoirs, follow recovery podcasts, and remind yourself how strong and brave you are!
Always remember that recovery is about progression not perfection Lets make our journey count!
